Course Description

Examines cutting edge pedagogy in history education that meets the Common Core State Standards. Trains candidates to teach their students how to think like historians by learning how to analyze and interpret primary source documents, conduct oral history projects, and synthesize these sources so that they can use them as evidence in their writing and presentations. A secondary, yet equally important goal is to help pre-service teachers develop this challenging curriculum to meet the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students. Partially based on field experience in a local school.
