Course Description

Provides an overview of inquiry based methods for teaching science and mathematics in a classroom setting. Participants examine various ways of interpreting and employing the scientific method, as well as identifying and employing effective mathematical tools for a variety of situations. Emphasis may be placed on developing teaching methods that allow students to discover scientific and mathematical principles through exploration, observation, experimentation and theory development. Partially based on field experience in which participants collaborate with teachers in a local school to design, develop, produce and evaluate teaching materials to be used in a given unit of study.
